Position: Interpretation/Visitor Services Intern
Location: Fort Sumter National Monument, Charleston

Summary:
Perform both historical and cultural interpretation with an emphasis on the Revolutionary War and Civil War, with traditional interpretive services performed daily at Fort Sumter, including a 10-minute interpretive program, safety message and site orientation presented on a tour boat; provide roving interpretation and information services at Fort Moultrie and Liberty Square; provide interpretive contacts, orientations, conducted tours, information desk duties, film showings and special events at Liberty Square, Fort Moultrie and Fort Sumter; assist with assembling interpretive materials for exhibits, posters, informational handouts and events at Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie; presents on-site interpretive programs to a variety of audiences ranging in age from preschool to seniors; carry out simple photographic duties and operate video, digital and still cameras, computers, copiers, telephones, calculators, etc.; work with volunteers on a regular basis to assist with interpretive and informational duties; promote program and assist with orientation for new volunteers; assist with the implementation of a comprehensive information program including activities related to downtown Charleston, Sullivan’s Island and the surrounding metropolitan areas, requests for information, information desk supplies and special events; assist with brochure inventories, flag inventories, monthly visitation figures and assists with other reports.
